Advising & Counseling Education Service program is dedicated to 9th-11th graders who are in search of some guidance for college preparations. We offer a variety of assistance including: aptitude tests or demographic evaluations, four-year academic plans, transcript evaluations, course advisement, study plan layouts, progress checks, extracurricular activities and community service arrangements, and summer program planning. The graduates of this program will be transitioned into our CAES program to prepare college admission materials and get into their dream schools!
Susan Sath - UCLA, BA in Economics
Born and raised in Long Beach, California, Susan excelled in high school as an AP Scholar. During her time at UCLA, she was involved in producing culture shows, counseling high school students, and working for the college newspaper. She has held several leadership roles, including program coordinator, program director, and committee head. She enjoys working with youth and believes that sharing her experiences and advice will help the younger generation succeed.
Shawn Potter - Brandeis University, BA in Music, Pre-Medical Sciences, East Asian Studies
Originally hailing from Boston, MA, Shawn traveled around the world, teaching and learning. Settling in Japan for 13 years, he taught English at university level and studied traditional Japanese martial arts. A musician by training, he also formed bands and taught dance in Tokyo. Now a resident of Southern California, he is the Manager for Advance Academy and our resident expert in Private Colleges and Universities.
Waheed Gardezi - Harvard University, BA in Middle Eastern Culture
Waheed began his career in the educational services industry in Cupertino, California, where he designed a college admissions planning system for American and Chinese high school students seeking admissions to top US universities. He is a 2009 graduate of Harvard College and a veteran admissions office interviewer for the Harvard College Office of Admissions. At Harvard, Waheed was a Boren Scholar and Campus Liaison for former US Ambassador to Yemen Barbara Bodine at the John F. Kennedy School of Government's Institute of Politics. He is fluent in Persian and Spanish and enjoys skiing and practicing yoga on his free time.
